I’m still on the fence with these tiles. I want to put the white and red tiles together, but I haven’t been able to get the white ones to shrink to the same size as the red. Also, the terracotta tiles warped way more than I anticipated…UGH.

I re-fired my terra cotta pieces to cone 04. I used an old manual kiln and was stupid and forgot to put cones in the bottom, so I have no idea what temperature the kiln actually reached. A few of my combined forms cracked, leaving me pretty upset. I’m also getting used to the darker color of the terra cotta when fired to 04 rather than 010 or 08.
Long story short…I’m learning that there are a lot of things out of my control. Maybe it’s time for me to embrace the imperfections, instead of constantly fighting the clay. Added to my list today: “you can’t control everything.”
